Starwood's spring promotion: Take Two

Earn double SPG Starpoints for multiple night stays between January 11 and April 30, 2016

Last week, I wrote about Starwood's year end promotion for 2015. Yesterday, the Starwood Preferred Guest announced its promotion for Winter and Spring 2016, Take Two. The terms are pretty straightforward:

• Earn double Starpoints for stays of two or more nights at any Starwood property worldwide between January 11 and April 30, 2016
• Earn an additional 250 points per night at certain destinations (see a list of participating properties here)

To qualify, simply register at spg.com/taketwo from now until April 10, 2016.

Earning 4x Starpoints - 6x times for Gold and Platinum members - during this promotion is a good way to build your SPG balance. However, keep in mind that changes are likely afoot for the program given the upcoming merger of Starwood and Marriott. The impact of the merger on the SPG program is not known, but a reduction in the effective value of the program is a distinct possibility. How this may impact how you accumulate and use Starpoints is your call, but it's something to keep in mind as you decide where to stay for your winter and spring travels.
