Thanks Again offering 200 Hilton points when you sign-up
Via Million Mile Secrets, when you setup a Thanks Again account, you will earn 200 Hilton HHonors points . Since I am always willing to do simple things to get free travel points, I created an account and poked around the site. (Thanks Again is not to be confused with Citi ThankYou Points.) This service is very similar to the Rewards Network dining program in that you can link your Thanks Again account to various hotel and airline loyalty programs. The link provided by Million Mile Secrets connects your new Thanks Again account to Hilton HHonors, but the service has relationships with other loyalty programs:
- AeroMexico Club Premier
- Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan
- American AAdvantage
- Fiesta Rewards
- Frontier EarlyReturns
- Hilton HHonors
- Southwest Rapid Rewards
- JetBlue TrueBlue
- United MileagePlus
You register your credit cards with Thanks Again and, when you make a purchase with any of those cards at a participating merchant, you earn points with your loyalty program at the published rate for that business. As with Dining Rewards, while you can seek out participating businesses, you could put your spending on "auto-pilot" by registering all the cards you use and then earning points when you happen to make a purchase with a Thanks Again network participant.
Thanks Again focuses on airport-based businesses. When I did a search for Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the site returned a huge list of ATL airport vendors. If you fly frequently and make numerous purchases at the airport, you could earn quite a few loyalty points. I saw several of the shops that sell snacks, magazines and other sundries where I often grab something before heading to the gate. The list of non-airport merchants in Atlanta was much more underwhelming. My search returned a very large number of spas. I recognized one local dry cleaning chain but I am not a customer. I don't anticipate earning many points with Thanks Again in Atlanta away from Hartsfield.
I love the idea of services like Thanks Again. I would certainly be incented to choose a network merchant in order to earn travel points, all else being equal, but as a fairly infrequent flyer, I can't imagine I will earn many points via Thanks Again. However, the 200 Hilton HHonors points makes signing up for this free service worth the small effort to set up an account.
