Hilton offering 2,500 bonus points for using "Digital Key"
Hilton is offering 2,500 bonus Hilton HHonors points to use Digital Key before September 30, 2015
Hilton is offering 2,500 Hilton HHonors bonus points if you try the new Digital Key feature on their iPhone app for stays between June 30, 2015 and September 30, 2015. To earn the points, you have to opt into Digital Key after checking in and choosing a room on the Hilton HHonors app. You will receive a push notification to your phone informing you when your room is ready. You can then skip the front desk and go straight to your room upon arrival!
Personally, I love this idea. I am not one for small talk in general, but, when I check into a hotel late at night, the last thing I want to do is stand at the front desk hearing an explanation of free breakfast that I have used countless time at their chain or being asked why I am traveling to their area (in the fall, when dressed head-to-toe in Georgia Tech gear, it's probably for a football game!). To walk into a hotel, head straight to the elevator and proceed to my room with no chit-chat is reward enough for Digital Key or similar capabilities at other chains. But I will gladly take bonus points for trying something I would use anyway!
Unfortunately, there are only a limited number of properties offering Digital Key at this time, so earning these points will likely be difficult for most people. Those properties are:
- Hilton Alexandria Old Town
- Hilton Baltimore BWI Airport
- Hilton Minneapolis / Bloomington
- Hilton Boston / Woburn
- Hilton President Kansas City
- Hilton McLean Tysons Corner
While I almost definitely won't be earning these bonus points, I can't wait until the ability to use my phone to access a hotel room is a standard feature at most properties!
