Rent an Audi A4 with Silvercar and save big!
You might think that renting an Audi and saving money is a contradiction but, right now, you would be wrong. For an upcoming weekend in South Florida, I booked a two-day rental of an Audi A4 that will ultimately cost me around $40! You can do the same without any special memberships or free rental certificates with just a couple of coupon codes. (Ok, to get it all the way down to $40, you will need to go to the Silvercar website from a shopping portal.) See below for details.
This opportunity is available from Silvercar, a new company that exclusively rents - silver - Audi A4s. The company sees "the future of car rental [as] a world without rental counters, and technology will get us there." They are in a limited number of cities at this time. Since I have been wanting to try them, I was fortunate that they have a location at the Fort Lauderdale airport. The full location list is:
- Austin - AUS
- Chicago - ORD
- Dallas - Love
- Dallas - DFW
- Denver - DEN
- Ft. Lauderdale - FLL
- Los Angeles - LAX
- Miami - MIA
- New York City - Manhattan
- Phoenix - PHX
- San Francisco - SFO
The first thing you will need to do is setup an account. You can do this from either the Silvercar mobile app or their website. On the website, you can enter a referral code just beneath your personal information. (I presume you can use a referral code if you sign up via the app, but there is not a box for the code on the first mobile signup page.) You are welcome to use my referral code - DCOOK4. If you do, we both get a $25 credit upon your first rental. You will also have to enter additional information including your driver's license, credit card and what insurance coverage you will use during your rentals. Like other rental companies, they offer insurance coverage, but, since my Chase Sapphire Preferred Visa provides primary rental car liability coverage, I chose "Personal Coverage" and entered "Chase Sapphire Preferred" in the carrier field.
Once you have your account setup, you can make a reservation. Right now, if you use the promo code LOUNGEBUDDY when making a reservation, you will receive one free rental day on a minimum two day rental. The good news is that this code is stackable with your new member referral bonus! Together, these two codes can you save you between $84 and $114, depending on the daily rate at your rental location. But, as I mentioned above, there is a final $20 that can be saved but it does require using a shopping portal.
TopCashback provides rebates on purchases at certain merchants of either a fixed amount or a percentage of the purchase total. If you go to Silvercar.com from the TopCashback site, you can earn $20 after completing your rental. (Setting up a TopCashback account is free; if you want to sign up, I would appreciate you using this link as I receive a bonus for each new member I refer.) Unfortunately, there is a potential hiccup getting both the TopCashback bonus and the free rental day. The terms state:
Since I am not sure if the LOUNGEBUDDY code works with the TopCashback reward, I rebooked using the code they did have posted (AFF-FTD) which offered $50 off a two day rental. My promo code savings was $11 more after taxes, but I ensured I would get the TopCashback bonus of $20, for a net gain of $9. Of course, if your rental rate is $89 per day, you do better going with the LOUNGEBUDDY code and rolling the dice on the TopCashback bonus.
All told, I stand to rent an Audi A4 for two days for $85.13. But that is before the referral bonus of $25 and the $20 from TopCashback. My net price for this rental will be only $40.13! That's a great deal for any weekend rental but for a Audi A4 with GPS, Sirius|XM satellite radio, and a sunroof....that's an absolute steal!
